Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.
Problem
The 225-4118 Oil Filter Element As for the hydraulic system on certain Track-Type Loaders, Track-Type Tractors, Pipelayers, Integrated Toolcarrier, and Wheel Loaders are plugging. 72% of failures occur prior to the first service interval (1000 Hours) and 90% of failures occur prior to the second service interval. In some cases, metal may be found in the filter when the filter is cut open. This problem results in illuminating the warning light in the dash in order to indicate that oil is bypassing the filter. A usual service repair consists of replacing the filter with a new filter. The 225-4118 Oil Filter Element As also reported leaking, in some cases.
Solution
After replacing the commissioning filter of the machine, the initial 250 hour maintenance schedule must include replacing the hydraulic filter.
