Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the hood. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hood - Remove and Install".

NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

1. Drain the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".

2. Disconnect hose assemblies (1) and (2) .

3. Release latch (3) .

4. Remove bolts (4) from each side and place refrigerant condenser (5) to the side.

5. Disconnect hose assemblies (6) and (7) from the fuel cooler.

6. Disconnect hose assembly (8) .

7. Loosen clamps (10) and (12). Slide hose (11) onto tube (9) .

8. Loosen clamps (14) and (16). Slide hose (15) onto tube (13) .

9. Disconnect hose assemblies (17) and (18) .

11. Disconnect hose (21) from the bottom of the expansion tank. Pull hose (21) through the radiator shroud.

12. Remove bracket (22) .

13. Push grommets (24) and (25) through the radiator shroud. Remove oil filler cap (23) .

14. Disconnect clip (26) and hose (27) .

16. Loosen clamps (30). Slide hose (29) onto tube (31) .

17. Disconnect harness assembly (32) .

18. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to cooling system package (33). The weight of cooling system package (33) is approximately 283 kg (625 lb).

19. Remove bolts (34) from each side of cooling system package (33). Use the suitable lifting device in order to remove cooling system package (33) .
