New Oil Seal And Coolant Seal Group Improve Service Life Of Engine Water Pump{1361,1389,1373}

Usage:

All 3406B Engines

Reference: The article "Inspection And Installation Procedures For Water Pump Shafts And Seals" in this issue of Service Magazine, gives additional information on installation of coolant seals in the engine water pump.

Description of Change: A new oil seal and coolant seal group are used in the engine water pump on all 3406B Engines. The new oil seal (see illustration) is made of a different material that is more resistant to heat damage and gives improved service life. Also, the carbon seal assembly, part of the coolant seal group, has a tighter fit on the water pump shaft that helps prevent the seal from spinning on the pump shaft.

NOTE: Use the information in the Reference Article to avoid damage to the seal groups during installation.

Adaptable As: The new 8T1361 Oil Seal and 4W3864 Coolant Seal Group are direct replacements for the former 5P1713 Oil Seal and 2W9101 Coolant Seal Group respectively. The new oil seal is in effect as shown in Chart A. The new coolant seal group is in effect as shown in Chart B.
