The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

There have been reports of problems with compatibility between Caterpillar Electronic Technician and some change levels of 158-5003 Monitor Electronic Control Module or 0R-7064 Electronic Control Gp . These issues may occur when the 171-4401 Communication Adapter As is used. The Cat Data Link communication link is lost. Refer to Table 1 for a list of fault codes that are logged.

Solution

This problem was not encountered when the older 7X-1701 Communication Adapter As was used. If this problem is encountered, Cat ET can be used with the 7X-1701 Communication Adapter As . Alternately, the panel for the Computerized Monitoring System can be unplugged while ET is being used.
