525C, 535C and 545C Wheel Skidders Grapple Caterpillar

Grapple Cylinder Speed - Check

Usage:

525C 525

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.

Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.

To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before operating the machine.

----------------------

Start the engine and run the engine at high idle. Raise the grapple and lower the grapple repeatedly in order to warm the hydraulic oil. The hydraulic oil (SAE 10) must be at a temperature of 65 ± 3°C (150 ± 5°F) in order to obtain accurate results.

Note: Perform all speed tests with the engine at high idle.

( 4 ) Measure the speed of the boom at the grapple end.

If the travel times are not correct, check the following conditions:

  1. Check the hydraulic pump flow.

ReferenceFor information on the hydraulic pump flow test, refer to the Service Manual module for Testing and Adjusting, "Pump Flow - Test" for the machine that is being serviced.

  1. Check the pressure setting of the relief valve on the brake priority valve.

  1. Check the line relief/makeup valves in the control valves for the arch, the boom, and the tong.

  1. Check the valve spools in the control valves.

  1. Check the piston seals in the cylinders.
