Lifting and Tying Down the Machine

Usage:

904B B4L
The machine can be lifted with a bucket that is not hydraulic. The machine can be lifted with a pallet fork that is not hydraulic. All other work tools must be removed from the machine before the machine is lifted.

  1. Weight and instructions are listed herein. This information is applicable to units that are manufactured by Caterpillar.

  2. For lifting objects, use properly rated cables and properly rated slings. Position the crane for a level machine lift.

  3. The holes (1) in the loader and the hitch (2) are used as lifting points.

  4. Spreader bar widths should be sufficient for preventing contact with the machine. The slings or cables should not exceed 15° from vertical when you lift the machine.

  5. Two front holes (1) and the hitch (2) are provided for tie-downs.

Install the tie-downs at several locations. Install the tie-downs for the bucket. Place chocks under the front wheels and under the rear wheels.

Check the appropriate laws that govern the weight of the load. Check the appropriate laws that govern the width of the load and the length of the load.

Consult your Caterpillar dealer for shipping instructions for your machine.

Lifting the Grapple Rake

Use properly rated cables and properly rated slings for lifting work tools. Position the crane for a level lift. Do not drag the work tool with a crane.

Note: The approximate weight of the 1829 mm (72 inch) Grapple Rake is 458 kg (1010 lb). The approximate weight of the 2134 mm (84 inch) Grapple Rake is 506 kg (1116 lb).

Use 2 hooks in the lifting eyes on the frame. Use a sling around the front torque tube at the center rake tine.
