Installation of Product Link{7602}

Usage:

D5N AGG
Track-Type Tractor:
D5N (S/N: AKD1-UP; AGG1-UP; CFH1-UP; CKT1-UP)
D6N (S/N: CBF1-UP; CCG1-UP; ALH1-UP; CBJ1-UP; CCK1-UP; CBL1-UP; AKM1-UP; ALR1-UP; CCS1-UP; ALY1-UP)

Introduction

This Special Instruction provides the procedure to install the Product Link system on D5N and D6N Track-Type Tractors.

After you complete the installation procedures, prepare the machine for service. Follow the procedure in the Operation and Maintenance Manual for your machine.

Do not attempt any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information.

Do not attempt to disassemble or assemble this machine until you read and understand the disassembly and assembly instructions. Improper disassembly and assembly procedures could result in injury or death.

------ WARNING! ------

Accidental engine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the equipment.

To avoid accidental engine starting, turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position. Remove the key for the battery disconnect switch. Use a secure padlock in order to lock the battery compartment access door.

Place a Do Not Operate tag at the Start/Stop switch location to inform personnel that the equipment is being worked on.

Note: 3S-6252 Sealant will also be required in order to seal the existing grommet in the cab.

Installation Procedure

Before you begin the procedure, record the serial number and the model number. These numbers are located on the communication electronic control module (1). These numbers will be used to register your Product Link.

  1. Disconnect the battery.

  1. Remove the rear headliner and remove the front headliner.

  1. Remove the condenser guard.

  1. Attach two plates (2) to communication electronic control module (1) with four bolts (3) .

  1. Install the module assembly on the inside of the cab at the location that is shown in Illustration 2. Use existing tapped holes (A) in the cab. Use four bolts (4), four washers (5), four spacers (6), and eight rubber mounts (7). Refer to Illustration 3.

  1. Install harness (8). Refer to Illustrations 4 and 5 for the correct routing. Route the harness through grommet (B). Use cable straps (9) to secure the harness.

    Note: Seal grommet (B) with 3S-6252 Sealant .

  1. Attach the ground strap to either of the two mounting locations on the front side of the ECM.

  1. Reinstall the condenser guard. Route harness (8) through grommet (C) in the condenser guard.

  1. Reinstall the headliner.

  1. Mount bracket (10) to the condenser guard with two existing bolts (D) and two existing washers (E) .

  1. Install antenna (11) on bracket (10). Tighten the antenna to 5 ± 0.5 N·m (45 ± 5 lb in).

  1. Connect the antenna to the harness.

  1. Install label (12) to the right B post on the inside of the cab. Refer to Illustration 8. The warning is shown in Illustration 7.

  1. Register your Product Link. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7351, "Product Link".

Installation Procedure

Before you begin the procedure, record the serial number and the model number. These numbers are located on the communication electronic control module (1). These numbers will be used to register your Product Link.

  1. Disconnect the battery.

  1. Remove the rear part of the headliner and the front part of the headliner. Remove the foam.

  1. Attach two plates (2) to communication electronic control module (1) with four bolts (3) .

  1. Install the module assembly on the underside of the canopy at the location that is shown in Illustration 10. Use existing tapped holes (A) in the canopy. Use four bolts (4), four washers (5), four spacers (6), and eight rubber mounts (7). Refer to Illustration 11.

  1. Install harness (8). Refer to Illustrations 12 and 13 for the correct routing. Use cable straps (9) to secure the harness.

  1. Attach the ground strap to either of the two mounting locations on the front side of the ECM.

  1. Reinstall the headliner.

    Note: The headliner may be equipped with a foam insert. The foam insert fills the hole in the headliner when Product Link is not installed. This insert may be discarded after Product Link is installed.

  1. Mount bracket (11) with two existing bolts (B) and two existing washers (C) to the canopy. Secure harness (8) with clip (10) .

  1. Install antenna (12) on bracket (11). Tighten the antenna to 5 ± 0.5 N·m (45 ± 5 lb in).

  1. Connect the antenna to the harness.

  1. Install label (13) to the inside of the left ROPS post. Refer to Illustration 16. The warning is shown in Illustration 15.

  1. Register your Product Link. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7351, "Product Link".
