NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Typical example

The fuel system water separator for the tractor is mounted on the hydraulic tank below the primary fuel filter. The fuel system water separator for the scraper is located on the left side of the scraper engine below the primary fuel filter. Use the following procedure for both the tractor and the scraper.

  1. Open drain (2) on water separator bowl (1).

  2. Drain the water from water separator bowl (1). Close the drain (2).
