The diagnostic indicator shows diagnostic information for the control system. See Testing and Adjusting, "Using the Diagnostic Indicator to Determine Diagnostic Codes".
The harness code plug is used by the transmission electronic control module (ECM) in order to identify the machine's model number. This is accomplished by shorting a combination of wires to ground. The combinations identify the machines to the ECM.
