Brake Accumulator - Disassemble

Usage:

Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the brake accumulators. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Brake Accumulator - Remove".

------ WARNING! ------

The accumulator is filled with dry nitrogen. Sudden release of nitrogen pressure can cause personal injury.

To avoid personal injury, release the nitrogen pressure from the accumulator before disassembly.

  1. Remove two bolts (1) and protector (2). Remove the cap from gas valve (3).

  2. Release the pressure from the brake accumulator.

  3. Remove valve assembly (3). Remove the O-ring seal from valve assembly (3).

    Note: Always remove cap (4) at the gas end before removing cap (11) at the hydraulic end.

  4. Install suitable pins or bolts in end cap (4). Remove end cap (4) by using a long bar to work against the pins. Remove O-ring seal (5) and the backup ring from the end cap.

  5. Install suitable pins or bolts in end cap (11). Remove end cap (11) by using a long bar to work against the pins. Remove O-ring seal (10) and the backup ring from the end cap.

    Note: Do not remove the piston by applying compressed air.

  6. Remove piston (9) from the brake accumulator by pushing the piston from the hydraulic end with a suitable bar.

  7. Remove V-ring seal (7) and the backup rings from piston (9). Remove two teflon piston rings (6) and (8).
