3456 Engine, 836G Landfill Compactor, 834G Wheel Dozer and 988G Wheel Loader Caterpillar

The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects the following condition:

• The engine prelubrication system has been bypassed.

The prelubrication system is bypassed when all of the following conditions occur in order:

• The keyswitch is turned to the CRANK position.

• The prelubrication oil pump is engaged.

• The keyswitch is turned to the OFF/RESET position before the prelubrication system stops running.

• The keyswitch is turned to the CRANK position.

System Response:

The ECM will log the event. The event may be viewed on a display module or the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET). The engine starts without completing the prelube cycle.

Possible Performance Effect:

• None

Troubleshooting:

• The operator may be unnecessarily bypassing the prelubrication system.

Test Step 1. Talk to the Operator

Determine the reason that the operator has bypassed the prelubrication system.

Results:

• OK - STOP
