Changes Made To Air Intake Shut-offs And Contactor Groups{1078}

Usage:

All 3500 Series Engines

Description of Change: Several new parts are now used in the air intake shut-off group on 3500 Series Engines. Also, new solenoids are used in the contactor and contactor mounting groups. In the air intake shut-off groups the new arm, latch, pin and carrier are made from a harder material to decrease wear on these parts. Also, in this group a new spring, with larger diameter wire is used with a wave washer to decrease vibration of the shaft and valve assembly. A new valve assembly with a seal made of viton material is used to permit a longer service life.

In the contactor group, a new solenoid with a hardened pin is used to decrease wear between it and the arm in the shut-off group.

In the contactor mounting group a change was made to the solenoid assembly. The solenoid assembly now has a new solenoid with the harder pin and a diode.

Adaptable To: The new and former parts are shown in the charts. To use the new spring on earlier engines it will be necessary to drill a larger hole in the housing assembly. See the illustration.

New dimension for the locator hole in the housing assembly.
