Steering Time - Check

Usage:

924G 3DZ
Before performing any procedures on the machine, read Service Manual Module, RENR3508, "Machine Preparation for Trouble Shooting" and understand the steps in Service Manual Module, RENR3508, "Machine Preparation for Trouble Shooting".

Note: Permit only one operator on the machine. Keep other personnel away from the machine or in the operator's sight.

  1. Move the machine to a smooth, horizontal location. Move the machine away from other operating machines and away from personnel.

  1. Engage the parking brake.

  1. Run the engine at HIGH idle.

  1. Turn the steering wheel to either the left or to the right until you contact a steering stop.

  1. Turn the steering wheel from the steering stop to the opposite steering stop. Write down the needed time.

  1. Turn the steering wheel from the steering stop to the opposite steering stop. Write down the needed time.

  1. Run the machine at LOW idle.

  1. Turn the steering wheel to the left or to the right until you contact a steering stop.

  1. Turn the steering wheel from the steering stop to the opposite steering stop. Write down the needed time.

  1. Turn the steering wheel from the steering stop to the opposite steering stop. Write down the needed time.

  1. Disengage the parking brake.

  1. Run the engine at HIGH idle.

  1. Turn the steering wheel to the left or to the right until you contact a steering stop.

  1. Turn the steering wheel from the steering stop to the opposite steering stop. Write down the needed time.

  1. Turn the steering wheel from the steering stop to the opposite steering stop. Write down the needed time.

  1. Run the machine at LOW idle.

  1. Turn the steering wheel to the left or to the right until you contact a steering stop.

  1. Turn the steering wheel from the left steering stop to the right steering stop. Write down the needed time.

  1. Turn the steering wheel from the steering stop to the opposite steering stop. Write down the needed time.

  1. Engage the parking brake.

  1. Turn off the engine.

Table 1 lists the specifications for the turns. While the parking brake is disengaged, the difference between the left turn and the right turn must not differ by more than .3 second. While the parking brake is engaged, the difference between the left turn and the right turn should increase by no more than .2 seconds.
