Transmission Oil Filter Base - Remove and Install

Usage:

611 6SZ

Removal Procedure

  1. Park the machine on a hard, level surface. Lower the scraper bowl to the ground and engage the parking brake. Chock the wheels in order to prevent the machine from moving.

    Hot oil and components can cause personal injury.

    Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

    ----------------------


    NOTICE

    Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

    Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.

    Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Put identification marks on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses and tubes. This helps prevent fluid loss and contamination of the oil system.

  1. Remove eight bolts (1), the washers and four half flanges that secure two hose assemblies (2) to the filter base. Disconnect two hose assemblies (2) and the O-ring seals from the filter base.

  1. Remove three bolts (3) and the washers that secure filter base (4) to the machine. Remove filter base (4) from the machine.

Installation Procedure


    NOTICE

  1. Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement. Lubricate the O-ring seals with the lubricant that is being sealed.

  1. Position filter base (4) to the machine. Install the washers and three bolts (3) that secure filter base (4) to the machine.

  1. Position the O-ring seals and two hose assemblies (2) to the filter base. Install four half flanges, the washers and eight bolts (1) that secure two hose assemblies (2) to the filter base.
