Service Brake Control - Adjust

Sudden movement of the machine or release of oil under pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.

To prevent possible injury, perform the procedure that follows before testing and adjusting the brake system.

  1. Move the directional control lever to the NEUTRAL position. Stop the engine. Place the parking brake in the ENGAGED position.

    (1) Nut. (2) Yoke Assembly. (3) Pin.

  1. Measure dimension (A) with the brake pedal in the fully up position. The brake cable should not be loaded by the brake pedal linkage. Dimension (A) should equal 220.1 ± 2 mm (8.7 ± 0.08 inch) for (PIN: 7ZM1-117, 8ZM1-124, 9WM1-87, 1WN1-94). Dimension (A) should equal 207.9 ± 2 mm (8.2 ± 0.08 inch) for (PIN: 7ZM118-599, 8ZM125-499, 9WM88-1298, 1WN95-898) .

  1. Loosen nut (1) on yoke assembly (2) .

  1. Rotate yoke assembly (2) in order to obtain dimension (B) . Pin (3) will slip freely on the yoke assembly (2) . Dimension (B) should equal 127.7 ± 2 mm (5.0 ± 0.08 inch) .

  1. Tighten nut (1) .

  1. Locate the stop for the service brake pedal on the left pedal assembly. Adjust the cable assembly (2) to dimension (A) . Dimension (A) is measured from the floorplate to the brake pedal (3) , shown in the illustration. Dimension (A) should equal 165 ± 3 mm (6.5 ± 0.12 inch) .

  1. Loosen the locknut on the stop to the pedal that is located on the left brake pedal assembly. Adjust the stop so that the limit switch (1) releases when either brake pedal is pressed.

  1. Tighten the locknut for the pedal stop. Check that the limit switch turns on when either brake pedal is pressed.
