Lip-Type Seal Installation On Shafts With Keyways{7555}

It is often necessary to install lip-type seals on shafts that have keyways or snap-ring grooves. Lip-type seals can be easily damaged during installation on these shafts.
Use black plastic (electrician) tape to prevent damage to the seal during installation. Cover the keyway or snap-ring groove with one layer of tape. Cut the tape so that the ends of the tape make contact. One end of the tape should not be on top of the other. Put oil on the tape and install the seal on the shaft.
