Usage:
992G (7HR) Wheel Loader
Description of Change: The steering cylinder now uses a vented rod wiper seal and a buffer seal with an integral backup ring. The new 153-7558 Seal (wiper) has four notches at the inner sealing lip to prevent water and pressure from becoming trapped between the u-cup seal and the wiper seal. The urethane u-cup seal can be damaged by prolonged contact with water. Bolts and washers are no longer required to retain the wiper seal. The new 140-0234 Buffer Seal has a built in backup ring that prevents the sealing lip from being extruded when under pressure. The steering cylinder also uses a new 162-0284 Head that has a slightly larger inside diameter at two wear ring lands. This will increase the clearance between the rod and the lands to reduce the possibility of rod scoring.
Adaptable To: The new 162-0284 Head, 153-7558 Seal (wiper), and 140-0234 Buffer Seal became effective with 112-8208 Steering Cylinder (Chg. 03). The change level of the cylinder can be found on the identification tag that is attached to the cylinder.
The new 162-0284 Head with a 153-7558 Seal (wiper) can be used to replace the former 6E-1250 Head and 8T-8389 Seal on 992G 7HR1-Up.
The new 153-7558 Seal can be used without changing the head to replace the former 8T-8389 Seal on 992G 7HR1-Up.
The new 140-0234 Buffer Seal is a direct replacement for the former 8C-9121 Seal (buffer) on 992G 7HR1-Up.
