Usage:
D11R (9TR, 9XR) Track-Type Tractors
Description of Change: Improved air cleaner supports are used on the 3508 Engines in these tractors. The pressure sensor port (see Illustration 1, Item P) has been redesigned in each improved air cleaner support. The redesigned pressure sensor port in each improved cleaner support has a smaller diameter hole and a counterbore that allows a filter element to be installed in the port (see Illustration 3, Items Y and 6. The diameter of the hole (see Illustration 2, Item X) was 9.5 mm (.375 in) for the former design. The new design uses a 3.2 mm (.125 in) diameter hole (see Illustration 3, Item Z). The smaller hole and the filter element reduce fluctuations in the inlet air pressure signal that is sent to the Electronic Control Module (ECM).

In addition, a new software flash file has been released, which provides improved electronic filtering of the signal from the inlet air pressure sensor. The improved air cleaner supports and new software flash file will help reduce the occurrence of "inlet air restriction" warnings and subsequent engine derate events.
Adaptable To: The improved 112-6041 and 112-6042 Air Cleaner Supports and the new 175-6453 Software File are in effect with D11R (9TR382-Up, 9XR190-Up) Track-Type Tractors.
NOTE: The part numbers have not changed for the improved air cleaner supports. The improved air cleaner supports can be distinguished from the former by observing the diameter of the pressure sensing hole (see Illustration 3, Item Z). Also, the new air cleaner supports have a 7M-1674 Filter Element in the pressure sensor ports (P).
D11R (9TR1-381, 9XR1-189) Track-Type Tractors can help reduce the occurrence of "inlet air restriction" warnings and subsequent engine derate events by installing new 172-0195 Adapter Assemblies and the new 175-6453 Software File. The new adapter assembly includes a filter element and a 3.2 mm (.125 in) orifice, in order to reduce fluctuations in the inlet air pressure signal. Two 172-0195 Adapter Assemblies are required for each tractor. To update these tractors, use the following procedure.

NOTE: Install the 172-0195 Adapter Assemblies with the open end (A) into the air cleaner support. The filter end (B) must be toward the pressure sensor.
4. Install the 172-0195 Adapter Assemblies in the air cleaner supports.
5. Install the pressure sensors. Connect the electrical connectors to the sensors.
6. Flash the new 175-6453 Software File to the ECM.
