Two sizes of hydraulic cylinder repair stands and two kits are now available from Caterpillar Tractor Co. for the disassembly and assembly of hydraulic cylinders.

The 1P1784 Hydraulic Cylinder Repair Stand is 4.4 m (14.43 ft) long and has a torque capacity of 10 200 N·m (7507 lb ft).

The 6V4947 Hydraulic Cylinder Repair Stand is 6.0 m (19.68 ft) long and has a torque capacity of 13 600 N·m (10,010 lb ft).

Both repair stands come with rod supports, assembly hardware, torque multiplier mounting bracket, and hold-down chains.

If a repair stand without the base and legs is desired, the 1P2330 and 6V4948 Hydraulic Cylinder Repair Kits are available for the 1P1784 and 6V4947 Repair Stands respectively. The kits have the same components as the complete stands, except for the base and legs which can be fabricated according to the drawings in the kits.

An adapter for yoke-type cylinders comes with the 1P1784 and 1P2330 repair stands. This 7500800 Adapter can be ordered from Wolff Manufacturing if it is needed for use on the 6V4947 and 6V4948 Stands.

The hydraulic power source for the stand is not part of either the kits or the complete repair stands. Use either a 3S6224 (115 volt) or 8S8033 (230 volt) Hydraulic Pump Assembly. Also, the necessary torque multipliers and spline-drive sockets are available separately. Refer to the Caterpillar Tool Guide, SENS5500, for sizes, specifications, and part numbers.

1P1784 Stand can be used for most of the hydraulic cylinders used on Caterpillar equipment, but some of the larger cylinders have torque or length specifications which are more than the capacity of this stand. The 6V4947 Stand will service all sizes of Caterpillar hydraulic cylinders.

It is Caterpillar's recommendation that a purchase of the 6V4947 or 6V4948 Repair Stand be made if there is a need to service large cylinders such as those found on the 992C Loaders, D10 Tractors, 235 and 245 Excavators, or 641 Tractor-Scrapers, etc.

A Special Instruction on the use of each repair stand is available. Form^* SEHS7963 is for 6V4947 Repair Stand and 6V4948 Kit. Form^* SEHS7964 is for 1P1784 Repair Stand and 1P2330 Kit.
