  1. Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the upper structure and the undercarriage frame.

  2. Use a suitable towing device to position the undercarriage under the upper structure. The weight of undercarriage (11) is approximately 3630 kg (8000 lb).

  3. Apply a coat of Tooling (E) on the mating surface of swing gear (26) and upper frame assembly (5).

    For Tooling (F).

  4. Use Tooling (A), Tooling (C), and Tooling (F) to lower the upper structure onto the undercarriage frame assembly.

    For Tooling (F1).

  5. Use Tooling (A), Tooling (C), and Tooling (F1) to lower the upper structure onto the undercarriage frame assembly. Refer to Tool Operating Manual, NEHS1303 , "Lift Group (Stand - 25 Ton)" for more information on Tooling (F1).

  6. Align the marks on the upper structure to swing gear (26). Remove Tooling (D).

  7. Apply Tooling (G) on the threads of bolts (24) and (25). Install bolts (25). Tighten bolts (24) and (25) to a torque of 270 ± 40 N·m (199 ± 30 lb ft). Connect tube assembly (24)

  8. Install bottom guard (23).

  9. Install hose assembly (21). Install pin (22).

  10. Install boot (20), clamp (18), and retainer (19). Connect hose and fitting assemblies (17). Connect hose assemblies (16).

  13. Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (B). The weight of Tooling (B) is approximately 95 kg (210 lb). Remove bolts (8) and plate (9). Remove Tooling (B) from the upper boom pin.

  14. Remove pin assembly (13) and Tooling (B).

  15. Attach a suitable lifting device to both ends of boom cylinder (10). The weight of boom cylinder (10) is approximately 147 kg (324 lb).

  16. Install boom cylinder (10). Install pin assembly (13).

  17. Raise boom cylinder (10). Slide pin (11) into cylinder (10). Install plate (9) and bolts (8). Connect grease hose assembly (7).

  18. Attach hose assemblies (12).

  19. Remove Tooling (B).

  20. Remove drain plugs (3). Drain oil from final drives. Remove bolts (1) and cover (2). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Final Drive and Travel Motor - Disassemble" for more information.

  21. Install sun gear (4). Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the ring gear and cover. Apply Tooling (E) on sealing lip of cover (2). Install cover (2).

  22. Apply Tooling (G) on the threads of bolts (1). Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 30 ± 7 N·m (22 ± 5 lb ft). Refill final drives with oil.

End By:

  1. Install the bucket.
