General Hazard Information
Attach a "Do Not Operate" warning tag or a similar warning tag to the starting switch or to the controls before the Generator Set Start Module is serviced or before the Generator Set Start Module is repaired. These warning tags (Special Instruction, SEHS7332) are available from your Caterpillar dealer. Attach the warning tags to the Generator Set Start Module and attach the warning tags to each operator control station.

When the module is serviced, ensure that there are no unauthorized personnel near the Generator Set Start Module.
Engine speeds, temperatures, and load are the best indicators of performance. Rely on instrumentation. Record all readings. Compare these readings with previous readings in order to detect developing abnormalities.
- Wear a hard hat, protective glasses, and other protective equipment, as required.
- Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry that can snag on controls or on other parts of the generator set.
- Ensure that all protective guards are secured on the Generator Set Start Module.
- Never put maintenance fluids into glass containers.
- Use all cleaning solutions with care.
- Report all necessary repairs.
Unless other instructions are provided, any maintenance should be performed under the following conditions:
- Ensure that the Generator Set Start Module has stopped running. Ensure that the Generator Set Start Module has been disconnected from power.
- Do not attempt any repairs that are not understood. Use the proper tools. Repair any damaged equipment. Replace any damaged equipment that cannot be repaired.
- Remove all tools, electrical cords, or any other loose items from the engine before starting the engine.
