  1. Remove cover (1) and covers (2.) .

  1. Put a piece of cardboard (5) between stator (6) and rotor assembly (7). This step is necessary in order to prevent damage to the rotor assembly and the stator when the generator fan is disconnected from the flywheel housing.

  1. Loosen three bolts and nuts (8) on the front engine support.

  1. Remove the bolts that hold the generator in place on the base.

    Note: G3412 Engines do not have mounts, sleeves, or collars. G3412 Engines have four bolts that hold the generator set to the base.

  1. Fasten a strap (9) and Tool (A) to the generator. Fasten a chain to the lifting bracket on the front of the generator.

  1. Lift the generator and the rear of the engine enough to install wood blocks (10) under the flywheel housing. Lower the generator and the engine until the weight of the engine is on wood blocks (10) .

  1. Remove bolts (12) that hold fan (13 ) against the flywheel housing. Remove bolts (11) that hold the generator housing against the flywheel housing.

  1. Remove the generator from the engine. The weight of the generator is approximately 1134 kg (2500 lb).

  1. Remove bolts (14) and plates (15.) .

  1. Remove fan (16) and shims (17) .
