The pump shaft seal (1) can leak on certain 305.5 Mini Hydraulic Excavators. The location of the seal is shown in Illustration 1. There is a hole in the cover that bolts to the flywheel housing. The hole is to cool the cavity on the mount for the pump drive coupling. Also, there are 11 gaps between the cover and the flywheel housing. The hole and the gaps allow dirt to enter the cavity. The dirt damages the seal lip.
The hole and the gaps are now sealed in order to prevent dirt from entering. The fan pulley ratio has been increased in order to increase the air flow in order to compensate for the loss of cooling effect that results from the sealed hole and the gaps.
Adaptable To: This change is effective with machine serial number CXZ726-UP. This change was never effective on machines with a DCK serial number prefix.
This change is adaptable to machine serial numbers CXZ1-725 and to all machines with a DCK serial number prefix.
