Description of Change: New lower tool bushings have been designed in order to prevent the penetration of dust into the hammers. The O-rings and the O-ring grooves have been removed from the outside of the lower tool bushing. Silicone sealant is used in order to seal the bore of the front head and the outside diameter of the bushing.
The new lower tool bushings are fully interchangeable with the previous lower tool bushings. The part numbers did not change.
Adaptable To: Refer to table 1 for application information of the tool bushing.

Replacement of the Lower Tool Bushing
- Remove the tool. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Tool (Hammer)- Remove and Install" for information on the procedure to remove the tool from your hammer.
- Completely clean the inside of the bushing. Inspect the inside bore of the bushing for wear.
- Inspect the tool bushing. If first groove (1) is worn away and second groove (2) is visible, you can reuse the bushing.
- In order to reuse the tool bushing, you can rotate the tool bushing by 90 degrees.

Note: You cannot rotate the previous bushing on the non-silenced hammers. If the current bushing is installed, you can rotate the current bushing on the non-silenced hammers.

- If grooves (1) and (2) are worn away, you must replace the tool bushing.
- If the lower tool bushing has been removed from the front head, you must perform the following steps before you install the lower tool bushing.
- Refer to Illustration 3. If you have previous lower tool (4), remove O-ring seal (6) from groove (7). Do not replace the O-ring seal. Silicone sealant will replace O-ring seal (6). Go to Step 5.b.
Note: DO NOT APPLY 5N-5561 SILICONE LUBRICANT TO THE BORE OF THE FRONT HEAD..
- Apply a thin layer of 5N-5561 Silicone Lubricant (11) on the outer surface of lower tool bushing (9). Refer to Illustration 4 for applying the silicone sealant.
- Apply 4C-5598 High Temperature Anti-Seize (10) to the bore of front head (8). Anti-Seize compound will prevent corrosion and seizures. The removal of the lower tool bushing will be made easier by applying anti-seize compound. Refer to Illustration 4.
- Install the lower tool bushing before the sealant hardens. Install the retaining pins.
