Crankshaft - Remove

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the engine oil relief valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Relief Valve - Remove and Install".
  2. Remove the flywheel. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Flywheel - Remove and Install".
  3. Remove the housing for the crankshaft rear seal. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Rear Seal - Remove".
  4. Remove the engine oil pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pump - Remove".
  5. Remove the pistons and the connecting rods. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Pistons and Connecting Rods - Remove".


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

    Typical example

  1. Remove bolts (3) from the crankcase cross member.

  1. Remove two allen head screws (2) that are recessed. The screws are located at the rear of the engine.

  1. Place the engine in an upward position. Attach a suitable lifting device (1) to the crankshaft and main bearing assembly (5) .

  1. Lift crankshaft (5) and the main bearing assembly from cylinder block (6). Do not scratch any of the finished surfaces on the crankshaft.
