Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Place an index mark on all of the electrical wires that are connected to the electric starting motor. Disconnect the electrical wires from the electric starting motor.

  1. Fasten a suitable lifting device to the electric starting motor. The electric starting motor weighs approximately 27 kg (60 lb).

  1. Remove three bolts (1) and the washers.

  1. Remove the electric starting motor.

Installation Procedure

  1. Fasten a suitable lifting device to the electric starting motor. The electric starting motor weighs approximately 27 kg (60 lb).

  1. Position the electric starting motor in the flywheel housing. Install three bolts (1) and the washers.

  1. Connect all of the electrical wires to the electric starting motor by using the index marks.
