Removal Procedure

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Loosen hose clamps and remove the two fuel lines from fuel transfer pump (1) .

- Remove two bolts (4) that fasten fuel transfer pump (1) to the cylinder block.
- Remove fuel transfer pump (1) and O-ring (3). Replace the O-ring when you install the fuel transfer pump.
Note: In order to remove the fuel transfer pump from the engine, it may be necessary to rotate the crankshaft until the rocker arm of the fuel transfer pump is not under pressure.
Note: Before removing the fuel transfer pump (1) from the cylinder block, note the position of the flange (2) of the fuel transfer pump (1) for assembly.
