Usage:
(1) Thickness of top plate ... .3925 ± .0005 in.(9.969 ± 0.013 mm)
Thickness of gasket between top plate and block ... .008 ± .001 in.(0.20 ± 0.03 mm)
Height of liner over top plate (under installation pressure) ... .0030 to .0076 in.(0.076 to 0.193 mm)
Make sure all surfaces and gasket are clean and no sealant used.
(2) Distance to drive dowel from top of block ... 1.02 ± .02 in.(25.9 ± 0.5 mm)
Dowel at the left rear has a seal around it under the gasket in the counterbore in block.
(3) Plugs are driven even with block face.
(4) Bore in block for main bearing ... 3.8160 ± .0005 in.(96.93 ± 0.013 mm)
(5) Torque for nut holding cap for main bearings:
(lubricate stud threads and washers)
a. Tighten all nuts to ... 70 ± 5 lb. ft.(9.68 ± 0.7 mkg)
b. Put mark on each nut and end of stud.
c. Tighten each nut from mark ... 90°
(6) Torque for taper lock studs for cap for main bearing ... 120 ± 5 lb. ft.(16.6 ± 0.7 mkg)
Torque for the bolts that hold the spray tube for piston cooling ... 35 ± 5 lb. ft.(4.84 ± 0.7 mkg)
