NOTE: This Program must be administered as soon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI3210" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI3210" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

Problem

G-Port plumbing needs to be removed on certain 5230 Excavators. This must include removal of shuttle valves from each pump, not just lines removal. The problem with their use is erratic machine and pump operation, due to limited sealing ability and shuttle wear.

Rework Procedure

NOTE: Before disconnecting any hydraulic hoses, release the hydraulic pressure in the hydraulic system by pushing and pulling the hydraulic control levers several times.

NOTE: Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact the skin. Be sure that the engine and components are cool enough to touch with your bare hand prior to performing any service work.

NOTE: Apply a vacuum to the hydraulic tank or take other precautions to prevent oil from leaking during this procedure. Bleed all pumps to remove air from pumps.

1. Remove 141-6713 Hose Assembly (Line 29), 141-6715 Hose Assembly (Line 28), and attached connectors from 139-0516 Valve Group as shown in Illustration 1. 139-0516 Valve Group is mounted on the wall of the pump room in the right hand enclosure.

2. Install 9S-4191 Plug and 3J-1907 Seal in place of the removed Hose Assemblies from Step 1 as shown in Illustration 2.

3. Remove 126-3754 Hose Assembly (Line 27) and attached connectors from 139-0516 Valve Group as shown in Illustration 1.

4. Install 9S-4191 Plug and 3J-1907 Seal in place of the removed Hose Assembly from Step 3 as shown in Illustration 2.

5. Remove 105-3002 Hose Assembly (Line 4) and attached connectors from 139-0516 Valve Group as shown in Illustration 1.

6. Install 9S-4185 Plug and 3K-0360 Seal in place of the removed Hose Assembly from Step 5 as shown in Illustration 2.

7. Remove the following Hose Assemblies from the Top, Left, and Bottom Implement Pump stacks as shown in Illustration 3. (The Swing Pumps are not included in this diagram. To view orientation of the Implement and Swing Pumps within the Right Hand Enclusure see, Illustration 6.)

8. Remove the following from the port marked "G" in each of the Implement Pumps. (Two Top Implement Pumps, Two Left Implement Pumps, Two Bottom Implement Pumps for a total of Six.) See Illustration 4-5

102-0814 Bushing (using a puller asembly and a M6 screw)
138-6780 Shuttle Valve

Install 9S4191 Plug and 3J1907 Seal into each or the "G" ports.

NOTE: It is ccritical that the shuttle valves be removed.

9. Follow 105-3002 Hose Assembly (Line 4) out of the pump housing, through the side of the Swing Frame, and across the Swing Frame as shown in Illustration 6-9. Continue to remove Line 4 and hardware.

10. Remove Line 4 from the 115-0518 Plate Assembly as shown in Illustrations 10 & 11.

11. Replace the hole created from step 14 with a 5K-3546 button plug.

12. Remove 131-6896 Hose Assembly (Line 4) and attached connectors from 141-4641 Valve group as shown in Illustrations 12 & 13.

13. Install 9S-4191 Plug and 3J-1907 Seal in place of the removed Hose Assembly from Step 16.
