Gas Engine Driven Chiller Driveline Caterpillar

Note: For the recommended engine lubrication, see the engine's Operation and Maintenance Manual. For the lubrication that is recommended for the compressor, see the literature that is provided by the OEM of the compressor.

Gearbox Oil

For the gearbox, select a heavy-duty lubricant of premium quality. Select a gear lubricant that helps to provide protection from rust and corrosion. The gear lubricant must meet both of these specifications:

• American Gear Manufacturers Association (AGMA) No.2 EP

• International Standards Organization (ISO) viscosity grade 68

The following commercial products are some of the oils that meet these specifications:

• Chevron Gear Compounds EP 68

• Conoco Gear Oil 2 EP 68

• Exxon Spartan EP 68

• Mobil Mobilgear 626

• Shell Omala Gear Oil 68

• Texaco Meropa 68

Torsional Coupling Oil

For the torsional coupling, use Caterpillar Diesel Engine Oil (DEO) (15W40 ).

If Caterpillar DEO is not used, select a commercial diesel engine oil with an SAE 15W40 viscosity. The recommended commercial diesel engine oils are identified by the API categories of CF, CF-4, and CG-4.
