Engine Air Cleaner Element (Single Element) - Inspect/Replace
Perform the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Air Cleaner Service Indicator-Inspect" procedure and perform the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Air Precleaner Check/Clean" procedure (if equipped) before performing the following procedure.

Never run the engine without an air cleaner element installed. Never run the engine with a damaged air cleaner element. Do not use air cleaner elements with damaged pleats, gaskets or seals. Dirt entering the engine causes premature wear and damage to engine components. Air cleaner elements help to prevent airborne debris from entering the air inlet. |

- Remove the air cleaner cover (1) and remove the element (2).
- Seal the turbocharger air inlet (3) so that debris cannot enter the air inlet. Tape or a clean cloth can be used to cover the opening.
- Clean the inside of the air cleaner cover. Clean the body that holds the air cleaner element.
- Inspect the replacement element for the following items:damage, dirt and debris.
- Remove the seal from the opening of the turbocharger inlet.
- Install a clean, undamaged element.
- Install the air cleaner cover (1).
- Reset the service indicator.
