Procedure to Install the Sensor Harness on Certain CB54B and CD54B Compactors {4351, 5058}

Introduction

This Special Instruction describes the procedure to install sensor harness on the machines listed above.

Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information.

Always start and operate the engine in a well ventilated area, and, if in an enclosed area, vent the exhaust to the outside.

Personal injury can result from rotating and moving parts. Stay clear of all rotating and moving parts.

Never attempt adjustments while the machine is moving or the engine is running unless otherwise specified.

The machine must be parked on a level surface and the engine stopped.

Attach a "Do Not Operate" or similar warning tag to the start switch and controls before servicing, repairing, or making adjustments to the machine.

  1. Install speed sensor group (H) with two bolts (J). Attach sensor harness (G) with the clip (E) and cable strap (F) that is mounted on bolt (D) as shown in Illustration 2.

  2. Mount speed sensor gp (M) on the plate adapter. Use strap (F) to attach sensor harness assembly (N) with clip (L) that is mounted on piston motor with bolt (K) as shown in Illustration 3.

  3. Mount speed sensor (S) on the piston motor with two bolts (R).

  4. Attach sensor harness assembly (N) with clip (T) and strap (F) that is mounted on bolt (P) as shown in Illustration 4.

  5. Attach sensor harness assembly (N) with clip (U) and strap (F) that is mounted on bolt (V) in the adapter plate.

  6. Attach the sensor harness assembly (N) with clip (U) and strap (F) that is mounted on bolt (P) in the adapter plate as shown in Illustration 5.

  7. Connect sensor harness assembly (W) to receptacle assembly (Z) with cable strap (X). Connect receptacle assembly (Z) to connector plug (AA) with sensor harness assembly (N).

  8. Secure sensor harness assembly (N) with clip (AB) and strap (F) that is mounted on bolt (AA) in the adapter plate as shown in Illustration 6.

  10. Secure sensor harness assembly (AD) with cable strap (AE).

  11. Secure sensor harness assembly (AF) with clip (E) and strap (F) that is mounted on bolt (D) as shown in Illustration 8.
