Description Of Change: The new fuel injector has an improved valve and armature design that increases the robustness of the fuel injector for increased life.

Adaptable To: The new 443-9454 Fuel Injector replaces the existing 331-5895 Fuel Injector for 793F and 797F. The new 443-9454 Fuel Injector also replaces the 331-5894 Fuel Injector for the 795F. The Reman 20R-5566 Fuel Injector replaces the existing 10R-8998 Fuel Injector and 10R-9004 Fuel Injector Gp. The new fuel injector is adaptable back to first production on the serial numbers listed above.

New engine software is required to support the new fuel injector. Engines must be equipped with the following engine software or newer software as shown in Table 1. An interlock code mismatch will be displayed in Cat ET if a new injector and trim file are installed with a previous version of engine software.

Note: The new fuel injectors are interchangeable with the previous fuel injectors. It is NOT required to change an entire set on a given engine. An engine can run with a mixed set of new and old injector part numbers as long as the engine software has been updated.
