Start By:
- Remove the drive axles.
- Separate the track.
- Remove the ladder.

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Drain the final drive and transmission oil into a suitable container for proper storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual , "Final Drive and Transmission Oil - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.
- Move the counterweight to the lowest position for the right side.

953 kg (2100 lb) . Position Tooling (A), as shown. - Remove bolts (3) and bolts (4). Remove final drive assembly (2).
Note: DO NOT LOOSEN BOLT (5).

- Install final drive assembly (2) in the reverse order of removal.
- Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of
800 ± 90 N·m (590± 66 lb ft) . - Lubricate the threads of bolts (1). Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of
406 ± 68 N·m (300 ± 50 lb ft) . Then, turn bolts (1) an additional 120 degrees.
- Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of
