Service Magazine SEPD2035, 14 August 2015, "A New Brake Oil Cooler Bracket Assembly Is Used on Certain 3508 777D and 992G Machine Engines". Disregard the previous article, the effective serial numbers have been updated.

Description of Change: The new bracket assembly is a more robust design, utilizing a three piece, bolted design that eliminates the welds.

Adaptable To: The new 470-3068 Bracket, the 470-9509 Plate, and the 480-5324 Bracket replace the former 4W-5901 Support As .

The new bracket assembly is adaptable to the above engines back to first production.

Rework Procedure

1. Remove the 4W-5901 Support As from the brake oil cooler and rear housing. Set aside the oil pan hardware for reuse.

2. Attached brackets (1) and (2) to plate (3) loosely with two bolts (4), four washers (5), and two nuts (6) .

3. Attach the 470-9509 Plate loosely to the brake oil cooler with two spacers (7), two bolts (4), and two washers (5)

4. Attach the 470-3068 Bracket and the 480-5324 Bracket loosely to the oil pan with the original two bolts (8) and two washers (9) .

5. Pre-torque bolt (8) to ensure proper alignment.

   Torque bolts ... 10 ± 5 N·m (89 ± 44 lb in)

6. Pre-torque bolts (4) to ensure proper alignment.

   Torque bolts ... 10 ± 5 N·m (89 ± 44 lb in)

7. Tighten all bolts.

   Torque bolts ... 105 ± 20 N·m (77 ± 15 lb ft)
