Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is available, use the solution that is identified below.
Problem
Operators are reporting that under certain conditions mud is packing between the underside of the cab rear fender and the tire. This issue is specific to machines with 711 mm (28 inch) tires and could damage the tires inner side wall. Operators have had to remove the rear wheel just to remove the mud packed between the frame rail and tire.

A new plastic 449-2690 Guard (1) has been introduced to eliminate mud packing for Backhoe Loaders with 711 mm (28 inch) wheels. The new guard gives better clearance to the rear wheel which, and reduces mud buildup. A section of the plastic should be trimmed off to clear the stabilizer cylinder hoses.
The 449-2690 Guard will not work well with machines fitted with 660 mm (26 inch) rear wheels. The 660 mm (26 inch) rear wheels are wider and cause further clearance issues. This Technical Information Bulletin TIB does not cover these machines. If you have problems with a machine with 660 mm (26 inch) rear wheels, communicate the issue via the Dealer Service Network DSN.
