Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
Personal injury or death may result from failure to adhere to the following procedures. Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. Clean up all leaked or spilled fuel. Do not smoke while working on the fuel system. Turn the disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters. |
- Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
- Turn the fuel supply to the OFF position.
- Open door (1) .

- Use Tooling (A) in order to remove secondary filters (7) and primary filter (9) .

- Disconnect hose assembly (2), hose assembly (5), hose assembly (6), and hose assembly (8) .
- Disconnect harness assemblies (3), harness assembly (4), and harness assembly (10) .
- Remove bolt (13) and the washer.

- Remove bolts (11), bolts (12), bolts (14), and the washers. Remove fuel filter mounting (15) .
- Remove bolts (16) and the washers. Remove fuel filter base (17) from fuel filter mounting (15) .

- Remove bolts (18), the washers, and the mounts. Remove priming pump base (19) .
Installation Procedure
- Install fuel filter base (17) and priming pump base (19) in the reverse order of removal.
