(2) Propel lever

(3) Parking brake switch

(4) Keypad

Propel lever (2) is located on the right console. The propel lever provides input to the machine ECM number one through the CAN lines. The machine ECM number one uses this input signal as one of the parameters for parking brake control. The machine ECM number one also uses the input signal from the propel lever in order to determine the desired speed and direction.

The center position of propel lever (2) is the NEUTRAL position. If the position of the propel lever is inappropriate for the current machine conditions, display (1) shows an error message.

The desired travel direction is set to forward when the propel lever is moved from the center and toward the front of the machine. The desired travel direction is set to reverse when the propel lever is moved from the center and toward the rear of the machine. The farther the operator moves the control lever out of the NEUTRAL position, the greater the desired travel speed.

Parking brake switch (3) and keypad (4) are located on the right console. The machine ECM number one directly monitors input from the parking brake switch. The keypad communicates with the machine ECM number one through the CAN lines.

Parking brake switch (3) is a rocker switch with two positions. The parking brake switch is in the ON position when the front of the switch is pushed down. The switch is in the OFF position when the rear of the switch is pushed down.

The ECM uses the signal from parking brake switch (3) as one of the control parameters for the parking brake solenoid.

The parking brake is engaged when parking brake switch (3) is in the ON position.

(5) Propel speed indicators

(6) Propel mode indicators

(7) Increase speed switch

(8) Decrease speed switch

(9) Propel mode switch

The keypad on the right console contains switches that allow the operator to control the machine speed and the propel mode.

Increase speed switch (7) and decrease speed switch (8) scale the desired machine speed. Propel speed indicators (5) provide the operator with an indication of the currently selected scale factor. The scale factor ranges from zero to 100 percent. When the scale factor is zero, none of the propel speed indicators are illuminated. When the scale factor is 100 percent, all of the indicators are illuminated. Each indicator represents a change in the scale factor of approximately 14 percent.

Each time the operator actuates one of the speed switches, a pop-up window appears on the display. The pop-up window shows the currently chosen scale factor. The machine ECM number one stores the last active scale factor in memory. The system will then start up at the last chosen scale factor after the engine start switch has been cycled through the OFF position.

Propel mode switch (9) allows the operator to change the propel mode from low to high. With each depression of the switch, the machine ECM number one toggles the propel mode.

Propel mode indicators (6) provide the operator with an indication of the currently selected mode. When the propel mode is set to low, the bottom propel mode indicator is illuminated. When the propel mode is set to high, the bottom and middle indicators are illuminated.

Each time the operator changes the propel mode, a pop-up window appears on the display. The pop-up window shows the currently chosen mode. The machine ECM number one stores the currently chosen mode in memory. The system will then start up in the last chosen propel mode after the engine start switch has been cycled through the OFF position.
