Introduction

The problem that is identified in the technical information bulletin that follows does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

The autolube pump level sensor does not have any continuity to the chassis ECM (Electronic Control Module). Because of this situation, the "0234 Low Autolube Grease Level" "Warning Category 2" will not display on the Advisor display screen in the cab.

Solution

Fabricate a jumper harness assembly that transmits the signal from the autolube level sensor to the chassis ECM. Use the following information to fabricate, and install the harness assembly.

  1. Cut four wires for the harness assembly. Cut two wires to a length of 502 mm (19.8 inch). Cut two wires to a length of 483 mm (19.0 inch). Use the parts listed in Table 1 to fabricate the harness assembly. Refer to all four tables and the Illustration 1. Use six cable straps (7) to bundle the wires together between the connectors.

  1. Disconnect the 360-2947 Wiring Harness connection (13) that is labeled "Autolube Level Switch" for the autolube pump level sensor. The end of the 360-2947 Wiring Harness will be disconnected until later in the procedure. Install harness assembly connector (11) to the connector for the autolube pump level sensor that is on the pump unit.

  1. Remove receptacle assembly (14) that covers the connection on the 314-9556 Chassis Harness As connector that is labeled "Mates to Autolube LVL SW". Discard the receptacle assembly. Install harness assembly connector (10) to the 314-9556 Chassis Harness As connector that is labeled "Mates to Autolube LVL SW".

  1. Install harness assembly connector (9) to the disconnected end of the 360-2947 Wiring Harness connector that is labeled "Autolube Level Switch". This connector was disconnected in Step 2. Refer to Step 2, and Illustration 2.

  1. Use the six cable straps (8) to secure the harness assembly to the 360-2947 Wiring Harness .
