Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, thoroughly clean all parts in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Do not use wiping cloths or rags to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Dirt and other contaminants can damage the precision component. Perform assembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected always.

Note: Check the O-ring seals, the gaskets, and the seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

Note: Lubricate the internal components with the lubricant that is being sealed.

  1. Install washer (8), filter (9), washer (10), O-ring seal (11), seat (12), poppet (13) and spring (14) in housing (7).

    ------ WARNING! ------

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.

To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.

  2. Install O-ring seal (15) to screw (16). Install screw (16) in housing (31). Tighten screw (16) to a torque of 27 ± 3 N·m (20 ± 2.5 lb ft).

  3. Install nut (17) on screw (16). Tighten nut (17) to a torque of 47 ± 4 N·m (35 ± 3 lb ft).

  4. Install O-ring seals (22) and (23) to insert (24). Install insert (24) in housing (7).

  5. Install spool (25). Install ball (26) to spool (25).

  6. Place a small amount of Tooling (A) on the end of spring (28) to hold guide (27) in place. Install guide (27) and spring (28).

    ------ WARNING! ------

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.

To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.

  7. Install O-ring seal (29) on plug (30). Install plug (30). Tighten plug (30) to a torque of 58 ± 3 N·m (42.5 ± 2.5 lb ft).

  8. Apply a small amount of Tooling (A) to hold guide (5) and ball (6) to spring (4). Install ball (6), guide (5) and spring (4) to housing (7).

Note: Ensure ball (6) is on guide (5) before proceeding to Step 9

    ------ WARNING! ------

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.

To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.

  9. Insert pin (1) in plug (2).

Note: Ensure pin (1) is aligned and is evenly driven into plug (2).

  10. Install O-ring seal (3) to plug (2).

  11. Install plug (2) in housing (7) to the depth recorded during disassembly.

  12. If plug (19) was removed, install O-ring seal (21) and back-up ring (20) to plug (19).

  13. Install plug (19) and retaining ring (18).

  14. Install O-ring seal (34) to spool (33). Install spool (33) in housing (31).

Note: Do not force spool (33) at any time during assembly. Spool (33) can be guided into the housing bore by accessing either of the large ports on the bottom of housing (31). Ensure spool (33) contacts plug (18).

  15. Install O-ring seal (37) and back-up ring (38) to plug (39).

    ------ WARNING! ------

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.

To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.

  16. Install spring (36), stop (35), plug (39) and retaining ring (40) in housing (31).
