Air Compressor - Remove and Install

Usage:

789D SHH

Removal Procedure

------ WARNING! ------

In order to prevent possible personal injury, release the air pressure from the air tank before disconnecting any components of the air system.


------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from hot oil or hot components.

At operating temperature, oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns.

Remove the fill cap only when the engine is stopped, and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.


  1. If equipped with a sound suppression arrangement, refer to Special Instruction, "Installation of 384-3840 Sound Suppression Panel Gp (LH) (If Equipped)" and Special Instruction, "Installation of 361-2001 Sound Suppression Panel Gp (Center) (If Equipped) " for specific panel locations and the correct removal or installation procedure.

  2. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Use of Wheel Chocks".

  3. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "System Pressure Release"Air System.

  4. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Battery Disconnect Switch".

  5. Disconnect hose assemblies (1).

  7. Disconnect tube assembly (3).

  8. Disconnect tube assembly (4).

  9. Disconnect hose assembly (5) and tube assembly (6).

  10. Remove bolts (7). Use two people to remove air compressor (8). The weight of air compressor (8) is approximately 27 kg (60 lb). Remove gasket (9).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install air compressor (8) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Install a new gasket (9) with the epoxy bead facing the front housing.
