When installing Oracle 11g, ensure that a 64-bit server is used. Use the following files:
- win64_11gR2_database_1of2.zip
- win64_11gR2_database_2of2.zip
Perform the following procedure for installation:
- Extract the Oracle database files to a folder on the local hard drive. Double click "setup.exe" in the "database" folder to run the install.
The "Configure Security Updates" screen will display.
- Select the check box (1) to received security updates. In the popup box that appears, select "Yes" to proceed without entering details. Otherwise, complete the details to register with Oracle to receive update notifications. Or, clear the check box (1), and select "Next".

- A popup box will display asking "Do you wish to remain uninformed of critical safety issues in your configuration?". Click "Yes".
The "Select Installation Option" screen will display.

- Select "Install database software only" and click "Next".

- Select "Single instance database installation" and click "Next".

- Select the language which Oracle must support for this install, then click "Next".

- Choose "Standard Edition One (3.23GB)", and then click "Next".
The "Specify Installation Location" screen will display.

- In the "Oracle Base:" field, enter "c:\oracle" or "d:\oracle" (without the quotation marks).

- In the "Software Location:" field, specify the location for the Oracle software file. Then, click "Next".
Oracle executes checks to determine if the system meets the requirements to install Oracle 11g. The "Summary" screen will display.
- Ensure that all the settings are correct, and then click "Finish".
The "Finish" screen will display indicating whether the install was successful.

- If there are no issues reported, then click "Close".
The install is complete.

ORACLE_HOME Environment Variable
Note: The Oracle_Home environment variable is not set by the Oracle installer but is required by the configuration software. This variable must be added manually to the system variables in the "Environment Variables" control panel. This variable should be in the same directory as referenced in Step 9 of the installation procedure.
Perform the following procedure:
- Click "Start", then right-click "My Computer" and select "Properties".
- Select the "Advanced" tab, then click the "Environment Variables" button.
- Add a "New" (or "Edit") a system variable called "ORACLE_HOME" with the value "c:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1.".
- Click "OK" three times to apply the changes and close the dialog boxes.
