Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the hydraulic caliper service brake.

Note: The following procedure is identical for both sides of the machine. Repeat the procedure for the remaining side of the machine, if necessary.

1. Position a suitable container below the front wheel. Remove drain plug (3) and the copper gasket. Drain the lubricant from the front wheel into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

2. Remove bolts (1) and cover (2).

   Note: It may be necessary to use Tooling (C) to remove cover (2).

3. Remove O-ring seal (4) from cover (2).

4. Attach a suitable lifting device, Tooling (A) (not shown), and Tooling (B) to wheel assembly (5).

5. Remove bolts (6), retainer (7), and the shims.

6. Remove bearing cone (8) from wheel assembly (5).

7. Remove wheel assembly (5). The weight of wheel assembly (5) and the disc is approximately 262 kg (580 lb).

8. Remove bearing cone (9) from the spindle.

9. Remove Duo-Cone seal (10) from retainer (11).

10. Remove retainer (11) from the spindle.

11. Remove O-ring seal (12) from retainer (11).

12. Remove Duo-Cone seal (13) from wheel assembly (5).

13. Remove bolts (15) from wheel assembly (5).

14. Use two people to remove disc (16) from wheel assembly (5). The weight of disc (16) is approximately 38 kg (84 lb).

15. Remove bearing cups (14) from front wheel (5).

Installation Procedure

1. Install bearing cups (14) in the reverse order of removal.

   1. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Front Wheel Bearing- Adjust" for the correct procedure for adjusting the wheel bearing.
