(21) Steering cylinder

The hydraulic system provides oil for the steering and for the backhoe. The system also provides oil for the loader, for the ride control and for the operation of the stabilizers. The standard hydraulic system is made up of hydraulic tank (4), variable displacement axial piston pump (18), return oil filter (9), oil cooler (3), a bank valve for the backhoe control (16), a bank valve for the loader control (15), a metering pump for the steering (8), a supplemental implement pump, and various associated cylinders.

The bank valve controls the hydraulic lift cylinder (7) and the hydraulic tilt cylinder (2) of the bucket. If equipped, the auxiliary cylinder (1) functions with auxiliary control valve (15). Loader tilt cylinder (2) and loader lift cylinder (7) are components of the loader circuit. If equipped, the ride control valve (19) and ride control accumulator (20) works with the loader lift circuit. The 450E machine will be equipped with one tilt cylinder.

The piston pump (18) is located in the middle of the machine and the piston pump is mounted to the transmission.

The supplemental implement pump is a gear pump. The supplemental implement pump is located on the left side of the machine over the front axle. The supplemental implement pump is mounted directly to the engine.

The hydraulic tank (4) is located in the rear of the engine compartment in front of the cab.

The backhoe control valve controls the backhoe and the swing cylinders. The backhoe control valve also controls the stabilizer cylinders (17) and (10), stick cylinder (5), bucket cylinder (6), swing cylinders (11), and boom cylinder (13) .

If the machine is equipped with an extendable stick, the backhoe circuit also includes cylinder (12) and a control valve.

Machines are equipped with a pilot shutoff valve (14). The pilot shutoff valve stops the flow of pilot oil to the stabilizer control valve on the mechanically actuated backhoe control valve.

The hydraulic system also provides oil for steering. The standard two-wheel steering system consists of metering pump (8) and steering cylinder (21) .

The metering pump (8) is located in the front of the cab. The priority valve, and the bank valve for the loader (15) are mounted on the right side frame under the cab. Access to the bank valves is from the bottom of the machine or by removing the floorplate.

The auxiliary cylinder (1), the tilt cylinders (2), and the lift cylinders (7) are located at the front of the machine. The auxiliary cylinder is mounted on the bucket, or near the bucket. The tilt cylinder is located in front of the radiator. The tilt cylinder is centered in the loader frame. The lift cylinders are located on each side of the engine compartment near the center of the machine.

The following components are located at the rear of the machine: the stick cylinder (5), the bucket cylinder (6), the right stabilizer cylinder (10) and the swing cylinders (11) .

The left stabilizer cylinder (17) and the boom cylinder (13) are located at the rear of the machine. The boom cylinder is mounted to the backhoe. The left stabilizer cylinder is mounted on the rear frame. If equipped, the left stabilizer cylinder is mounted in the frame rails of the sideshift.

The bank valve for the backhoe is located at the back of the machine. Access is gained from the bottom of the machine or by removing covers.

If the machine is equipped with an extendable stick, extendable stick cylinder (12), and the control valve for the extendable stick are also part of the hydraulic system. Cylinder (12) is located at the rear of the machine, mounted in the backhoe. The control valve is installed in the bank valve for the backhoe and the bank valve is mounted at the rear of the machine.

(24) Auxiliary control

The operator must face forward and the seat must face forward while you move the machine. When you operate the loader control, the operator and the seat must face forward. The loader controls are located on the right side of the operator station. The control lever for the loader bucket (22) controls the following positions of the bucket.

The control lever for the loader bucket (22) controls FLOAT, LOWER, RAISE, RETURN-TO-DIG, TILT BACK, and DUMP positions of the bucket.

This lever also has a switch (23) in order to neutralize the transmission.

If the machine is equipped with an auxiliary valve, the auxiliary control lever (24) controls that circuit.

(28) Control for the auxiliary control (if equipped)

The operator must rotate the seat in order to operate the backhoe. The operator faces the rear of the machine with the levers for the backhoe in sight.

Note: The left side of the machine and the right side of the machine are established by the view when you are operating the controls.

With the standard hydraulic excavator control pattern, the control for the stick and swing (25) controls the STICK IN, STICK OUT, SWING LEFT and SWING RIGHT. The control for the boom and bucket (26) controls the BOOM RAISE, BOOM LOWER, BUCKET LOAD, and BUCKET DUMP.

With the backhoe control pattern, the control for the boom (25) controls the BOOM RAISE, BOOM LOWER, SWING LEFT and SWING RIGHT. The control for the stick (26) controls the STICK IN, STICK OUT, BUCKET LOAD, and BUCKET DUMP.

The extendable stick control (27) controls the STICK EXTEND. The extendable stick control (27) controls the STICK RETRACT.

The auxiliary control (28) controls the pressurized lines of an attachment.

The machine is equipped with a joystick pattern switch. The machine control pattern can be varied by moving the switch. Position "1" of the joystick control selector allows the functionality of the joystick to be in the excavator style control. The alternate position "2" allows the operator to change the functionality of the joystick to the backhoe style control.

Machines with mechanically actuated backhoe controls may be equipped with the Dynahoe pattern or the Ford pattern.

Note: The instructions for the backhoe controls are viewed from the operator seat. You will be looking at the backhoe bucket.

(DD) Move the pedal to this position in order to pressurize the hydraulic line on the right side of the machine.

(EE) The pedal will return to the HOLD position when the pedal is released.

(FF) Move the pedal to this position in order to pressurize the hydraulic line on the left side of the machine.

The auxiliary foot pedal controls the function of a work tool. If the machine is equipped with an extendable stick, the auxiliary function will be on the left foot pedal. If the machine is not equipped with an extendable stick, the auxiliary control will be on the right foot pedal.

Note: The operation of the controls will vary depending on the work tool. While you operate the machine and the work tool slowly in an open area, check the operation of all controls for the work tool.
