An improved bogie wheel group is available. The new 261-6296 Bogie Wheel Gp has metal face seals, which provide increased durability in abrasive operating conditions.
The new 261-6296 Bogie Wheel Gp is offered as a service replacement option for the 261-6104 Bogie Wheel Gp. The 261-6104 Bogie Wheel Gp is used with the 199-5371 Bogie Suspension Gp .
Note: The 261-6104 Bogie Wheel Gp replaced the former 199-5427 Bogie Wheel Gp, which was cancelled.
The new 261-6296 Bogie Wheel Gp can also be used with the 204-1446 Track Tensioner Gp (RH) and with the 204-1372 Track Tensioner Gp (LH). In order for the new 261-6296 Bogie Wheel Gp to fit in the tensioner groups, a modification of the mounting plate on the 218-6055 Undercarriage Frame Gp (RH) and on the 218-6056 Undercarriage Frame Gp (LH) must be made. Details for the modification are provided in the information that follows.

The plate on the undercarriage frame for mounting the tensioner group is identified in Illustration 1.
Note: The plate is in the same location on the 218-6055 Undercarriage Frame Gp (RH) and on the 218-6056 Undercarriage Frame Gp (LH).

By using a hand grinder or saw, remove the triangular area from the plate that is shaded in Illustration 2. Remove any sharp edges and repaint the plate, as needed.
