The routing of the 194-4230 Cable As has been improved. The new routing better protects the insulation on the cable assembly in the area of the frame for the starter, the clip for the harness, and the fuel tank.
Inspect the 194-4230 Cable As. If the cable assembly is pinched in the area of the frame of the starter, the clip for the harness, and the fuel tank, the insulation for the cable assembly may be damaged. If the cable assembly is incorrectly routed, the cable assembly may rub against the frame of the starter. This can damage the insulation on the cable assembly.
If the cable assembly is not pinched or damaged, and the cable assembly is routed correctly, no further action is required.
If the insulation for the cable assembly is damaged, remove the cable assembly and replace the cable assembly. If the insulation for the cable assembly is damaged, electricity can be grounded to the frame of the machine. Damage to the machine may occur.

Use the following procedure in order to inspect the routing of the cable assembly. Also use the procedure in order to update the routing of the cable assembly. The new routing of the cable assembly became effective in production with the machine (S/N: AMZ899-UP). Refer to Table 1 for the parts that are needed In order to change the cable assembly, or update the routing of the cable assembly.
- Perform the steps that are outlined in Disassembly and Assembly, "Machine Preparation for Disassembly and Assembly".
- Open the enclosure door for the engine on the right side of the machine. Turn the electrical disconnect to the OFF position.
- Inspect the routing of the 194-4230 Cable As (1). Make sure that the cable assembly is routed correctly. Make sure that the cable assembly is not pinched. Make sure that the insulation to the cable assembly is not damaged.
Previously, one 2V-3216 Clip was attached to the starter at point (A) . The clip held the harness for the starter coil assembly (B). The 194-4230 Cable As (1) was not held in position.

- No further action is necessary if the following conditions are met.
- The cable assembly is not pinched.
- The insulation to the cable assembly is not damaged.
- The cable assembly is routed correctly.
- The cable assembly is not pinched.
- If the cable assembly is pinched or if the insulation to the cable assembly is damaged, remove the cable assembly and discard the cable assembly. Install a new 194-4230 Cable As (1). If the cable is incorrectly routed, route the cable correctly.
- Install the 174-5907 Clip (2) onto the 194-4230 Cable As (1) .

- Install the 033-8248 Clip (3) onto the harness for the starter coil assembly.
- Position the clips with the flat side together, as shown.
- Remove the starter bolt. Position the 9L-1775 Bracket (4) on the starter, as shown. Make sure that the bracket is in the vertical position. Install the starter bolt and tighten the starter bolt.
