Gear Pump Flow (Vibratory) - Test

Usage:

BG-260D BPW
Note: The flow test for the gear pump measures the hydraulic oil flow rate in order to determine if the pump is operating within the design parameters. The following test measures the speed of the vibratory shaft. An operator and an assistant are required in order to perform this test.

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.

Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.

To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before operating the machine.

----------------------

------ WARNING! ------

Injury to personnel can result if they are not in the operator's view. Allow only essential personnel near the machine, and make sure the personnel are in the operator's view when testing, to prevent injury. Make sure checks are done in an open area.

----------------------

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from rotating and moving parts.

Moving fan blades and moving parts will throw or cut any object or tool that falls or is pushed into them.

Make sure no one is working on, underneath or close to an engine that is running. Make sure the area is free of personnel.

  1. Rotate needle valve (13), that is on the vibratory flow control manifold, fully clockwise.

  1. Move key switch (8) to the ON position. Move engine start switch (1) to the START position. Release the engine start switch after the engine starts.

  1. Move throttle control switch (5) to the HIGH IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second. The engine speed will increase to 2310 rpm.

  1. Monitor the hydraulic oil temperature with Tool (C). Operate the machine until the oil temperature reaches 43° ± 5.6°C (110° ± 10°F).

  1. Make sure that parking brake switch (6) is in the ON position. Make sure that speed dial (3) is in the MINIMUM position.

  1. Move vibrator switch (14) on the instrument panel to the ON position.

    Illustration 9g01245022

  1. Move vibrator switch (15) on the right screed control panel to the ON position.

Note: Carefully monitor the machine for movement during the next two steps. If the machine begins to move at any time, immediately return the speed dial to the MINIMUM position. Repair the parking brake before this test is completed.

  1. Move propulsion lever (2) to the full FORWARD position. Slowly rotate speed dial (3) until the vibrator motor starts. Do not rotate the speed dial beyond the point at which the vibrator motor starts.

  1. Have an assistant read the speed of the vibrator motor shaft with Tool (A). The speed should be 3000 ± 300 rpm.

  1. Move speed dial (3) to the MINIMUM position.

  1. Move propulsion lever (2) to the NEUTRAL position.

  1. Move vibrator switch (14) to the OFF position. Move vibrator switch (15) to the OFF position.

  1. Move throttle control switch (5) to the LOW IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second.

  1. Move engine start switch (1) to the OFF position after the engine reaches low idle.

  1. Move key switch (8) to the OFF position.

  1. Close cover (9) or install plate (10) .

  1. If the speed of the vibrator shaft is outside the specified range, the pump or the vibrator flow control valve is faulty.
