Heat Exchanger

Usage:

Remove Heat Exchanger

1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system.

2. Drain the water from the heat exchanger in the expansion tank.

3. Remove four bolts and support (1) from the engine and expansion tank.

4. Remove the bolts that hold bonnet (2) to the expansion tank.

5. Use two 3/8"-16 NC forcing screws to remove bonnet (2) from the expansion tank. Remove the bonnet. Remove the seal and gasket from bonnet (2).

6. Remove the tube bundle from the expansion tank.

7. Remove the seal from the inside of the expansion tank.

Install Heat Exchanger

1. Clean the tube bundle with a rod as shown.

2. Make sure dowels (2) are in position in both ends of tube bundle (1).

3. Put seal (3) in position in the expansion tank.

4. Put the tube bundle in position in the expansion tank. Make sure seal (3) stays in position, and the dowel in the tube bundle is in dowel hole (4).

5. Put seal (6) in position in bonnet (5). Rotate the bonnet until the dowel hole is in alignment with dowel (2). Put gasket (7) and bonnet (5) in position on the expansion tank, and install the bolts that hold them.

6. Install the support that goes between the timing gear cover and the expansion tank.

7. Fill the cooling systems to the correct levels. See the Maintenance Guide.
