Introduction

This information lists the procedures that are required in order to install the 267-6573 Camera Ar kit.

A complete listing of the parts that is contained in this kit is listed in the Parts Manual, SEBC1453. This supplemental product support literature should be used with the appropriate Service Manual that is available for the standard machine.

Do not perform any procedure or order parts outlined in this publication until you understand the information that is contained in this document.

------ WARNING! ------

Sudden movement or accidental starting of the machine can cause personal injury or death to persons on or near the machine.

To prevent personal injury or death, perform the following:

Park the machine on a smooth, level surface.

Lower the work tool to the ground and engage the parking brake.

Stop the engine and remove the key.

Block the wheels and install the steering frame lock.

Allow only authorized personnel on the machine.

Modification of Hood on the 980 Wheel Loader

  1. Mark the center line of the hood.

  1. Refer to the dimensions in Illustration 1. Mark the position of the four mounting holes and the cable access hole on the hood.

  1. Open the hood.

  1. Drill the four 11 mm (0.43 inch) mounting holes in the hood.

  1. Drill a 18.5 mm (0.73 inch) hole in the hood for the cable. Center the hole in the four hole pattern in step 4. Refer to View B-B in Illustration 1.

  1. On the 950 and 962, 966 refer to the dimensions in Illustration 2. Cut a hole in the angle support for the hood.

  1. Use the dimensions in Table 1 and drill four 11 mm (0.43 inch) holes into the top of the hood.

  1. Use the dimensions in Table 1 and drill one 18.5 mm (0.73 inch) hole into the top of the hood.

  1. Use the dimensions in Table 1 and cut a hole into the bottom of the hood.

Installation of the 258-7484 Bracket Assembly

  1. Use the hardware included with the camera. Mount the 251-4160 Camera Gp (8) into the rear holes that are on the 258-7484 Bracket Assembly (1). Finger tighten hardware.

  1. Use the following hardware and install the 258-7484 Bracket Assembly (1) onto the hood in the two front holes and the left rear hole:

  1. Insert cable from the camera through the 18.5 mm (0.73 inch) hole in the hood.

  1. Use the following hardware and install the 263-5472 Bracket (16) onto the underside of the hood:

    Note: Tighten the four 6V-9189 Locknuts (2) to 15 ± 3 N·m (132.76 ± 26.55 lb in).

  1. Connect one end of the 251-8248 Cable As (10) to the camera. Use the following hardware and secure the plugs:

  1. Route the 251-8248 Cable As (10) down the right-hand side of the hood. Use two 8M-2772 Clips (5) and four 3S-2093 Cable Straps (14) in order to secure the 251-8248 Cable As (10) in this area.

  1. Refer to Callout (A) in Illustration 7. Provide a loop in the cable in this area in order to provide stress relief when the hood is fully open.

  1. Continue to route the 251-8248 Cable As (10) toward the front of the machine and use two 3S-2093 Cable Straps (14) in order to secure the 251-8248 Cable As (10) onto the hydraulic hose for the hood lift cylinder. Check in order to make sure that the cable is free to move when the hood is opened and closed.

  1. Continue to route the 251-8248 Cable As (10) along the inside of the rear frame. Use two 8M-2772 Clips (5) in order to secure the 251-8248 Cable As (10) .

    Note: You may also follow the main harness. Secure the 251-8248 Cable As (10) to the main harness.

  1. Connect the 261-3223 Cable As (11) onto the 251-8248 Cable As (10) .

  1. Use a 4D-7735 Clip (4) in order to secure the plugs:

  1. Use a 8M-2772 Clip (5) in order to secure the 261-3223 Cable As (11) to the underside of the air cleaner support. The other end of the 261-3223 Cable As (11) will be connected at a later time.

Note: Secure any excess cable by using 3S-2093 Cable Straps .

Installation of the 261-3226 Camera Display

Removal of the Bracket for the Right Hand Mirror

  1. Remove the overhead console.

  1. Remove the right-hand mirror from the bracket.

  1. Loosen and drop down the headliner.

  1. Remove the bracket for the right-hand mirror.

Installation of the 255-4368 Bracket

  1. Use the bolts from the bracket for the right-hand mirror and install the 255-4368 Bracket (7) .

  1. Raise the headliner over the 255-4368 Bracket (7). Use two 9X-2040 Screws (20) and install the 278-0123 Bracket As (19) onto the 255-4368 Bracket (7) .

  1. Use The following hardware and install the 261-3226 Camera Display Gp (12) onto the 278-0123 Bracket As (19) :

  1. Route cables (A) and (B) above the headliner near the 255-4368 Bracket (7) .

  1. Connect one end of the 263-2166 Harness Assembly (15) onto the power lead (A) of the 261-3226 Camera Display Gp .

  1. Connect one end of a 251-8248 Cable As (10) onto the signal cable (B) of the 261-3226 Camera Display Gp .

  1. Route the 263-2166 Harness Assembly (15) and the 251-8248 Cable As (10) above the headliner to the right-hand door post. Then route the cables down the door post along the existing harness to the floor in the rear of the cab behind the seat.

  1. Disconnect the dimmer control plug and connect the plug to the 263-2166 Harness Assembly (15). Then connect the end of the 263-2166 Harness Assembly (15) to the dimmer control connector.

Installation of the 333-8153 Connector Group

  1. Use the 333-8153 Connector Group as a guide and drill a 22.5 mm (0.8858 inch) hole in the end plate. Be careful not to damage the existing internal wiring or the existing external wiring.

    Note: Go to the next step If there is not enough room on the end plate for the plug.

  1. If there is not enough room on the end plate for the plug, refer to Illustration 14. Drill a 22.5 mm (0.8858 inch) hole by using the dimensions in callout (A) and in callout (B). Be careful not to damage the existing internal wiring or the existing external wiring.

  1. Install the 333-8153 Connector Group (9) into the 22.5 mm (0.8858 inch) hole.

    Note: Screws that were supplied with the connector are not required.

  1. Connect the other end of the 251-8248 Cable As onto the 333-8153 Connector Group (9) .

  1. Connect the other end of the cable assembly that comes from the camera onto the outside of the 333-8153 Connector Group (9) .

  1. Check the operation of the camera and adjust if necessary.

    Note: Some part of the machine must be visible in the monitor. Preferably, the bumper should be seen in the monitor.

  1. Tighten the mounting hardware for the camera when the camera is adjusted properly.

  1. Replace the headliner and the upper console. Adjust the right-hand mirror.

  1. Replace the cover for the door post and access panels.
