Do not engage the parking brake while the machine is moving unless the primary service brake fails. The use of the parking brake as a service brake in regular operation will cause severe damage to the brake system. |

Parking Brake Engaged (1) Cable housing (2) Lever (3) Cable (4) Cam (5) Collar (6) Axle shaft (7) Brake discs (8) Pressure plate (9) Parking brake lever (11) Releasing lever (12) Switch |
While you are sitting on the seat the parking brake lever (9) is located on the lower left hand side of the seat.
Lever (9) is pulled fully upward in order to engage the parking brake.
As lever (9) is pulled upward, cable (3) is pulled through cable housing (1) in order to rotate levers (2) and cam (4) . The cam pushes nonrotating pressure plates (8) into contact with rotating brake discs (7) . The brake discs are splined to collar (5) . The collar is splined to axle shaft (6) . Axle shafts (6) are therefore prevented from rotating.
When the parking brake is applied, switch (12) sends a signal in order to disengage the transmission.

The parking brake is disengaged by pulling up on releasing lever (11) and pushing down on parking brake lever (9) .
At the axle, cable (3) releases levers (2) in order to allow cam (4) to rotate away from pressure plates (8) . Brake discs (7) which rotate with axle shafts (6) are now free to rotate between pressure plates (8) . The axle shafts are also now free to rotate.
When the parking brake is disengaged the signal from switch (11) is disconnected and the transmission can then be engaged.
